BOB SERGENT - BSKA SHITO-RYU |
Bob started his martial arts career in 1974 with Professor Dr Roger Mills who opened what is currently the BSKA Hombu. He has followed Roger ever since that day, having trained in Wado Ryu, Sankukai, and Shito-Ryu. He holds black belts in all 3 styles. Bob instructs at the Hombu in Bracknell, and is highly regarded by the BSKA instructors and students for his dedication to the individual members and the association. He has had extensive involvement in the training of juniors and is held in very high regard for his tireless efforts in trying to bring the best out of them. He is the longest serving member of the BSKA after Kyoshi Mills, celebrating his 40th year with the group in 2014, and holds the rank of 7th Dan. Professor Roger Mills, 8th dan, chief instructor at the club, said: “I know all of the club and association members hold him in the highest regard and don’t be fooled by his age – even the most experienced of us have to be wary of those very powerful arms. “Many a cocky student has come unstuck trying armlocks on him.” He added: “In 1974 there were around 40 new people and all have long since gone except for that gentleman, Bob Sergent. I say gentleman with great respect because that is exactly what he is. In 40 years I’ve never heard him swear, raise his voice or be rude to anybody. He has taught and helped thousands of aspiring karate students and has shown unswerving loyalty to the club, the association and to me personally. He serves as a good example to us all and his loyalty has never faltered.” Note: (added by webmaster) Most of all Sensei Bob Sergent is a true gentleman of the highest order.
